BFF Aunty Social: Aliens on Stage

Alien on Stage - Documentary Screening + Q&A Thursday 18th September 6:30pm The Backlot Cinema, Blackpool Hear the hilarious and heartwarming true story of a group of Dorset bus drivers who spent a year adapting the sci-fi horror classic Alien, for the village hall stage. What began as a crushing flop in rural Dorset took a wild turn when their low-budget, high-ambition show was invited for a one night only performance in London’s West End. But with wobbly sets, awkward acting and special effects requiring ‘more luck than judgement’, will it be alright on the night? Following its world premiere at SXSW, Alien on Stage has thrilled audiences at over 50 film festivals across the world. This uplifting documentary celebrates the chaos, creativity, and community spirit that emerge when ordinary people come together to attempt something extraordinary, purely for the love of it. The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the documentary’s co-directors, Lucy Harvey and Danielle Kummer, and visual effects artist Jon Sorensen, whose credits include the film that started it all, Alien (1979).
